About Client

Varma Ayurveda is an Ayurvedic wellness retreat run by Dr. Dona George inside Hotel Stadt Breisach in Breisach am Rhein, Germany, offering authentic South Indian Panchakarma and Varma (Marma) therapy to a European audience.

Note: this case study is scoped to UI/UX design work specifically — see the separate WordPress Development case study for this client for the full build.

Challenges

01

No visual hierarchy for an unfamiliar decision

Treatments, philosophy, and booking likely competed for attention without a design system guiding first-time visitors step by step through an unfamiliar therapy.

02

No design system built for multilingual expansion

Layouts and UI components weren't planned around how German, French, and Italian text runs longer than English, risking broken buttons and cramped labels once translated.

03

No calm, wellness-appropriate visual language

Without a deliberate color palette, typography, and imagery style suited to a healing practice, the design risked feeling generic rather than reassuring to a visitor considering an unfamiliar treatment.

Campaign Objective

Teknoppy's goal was to design a UI/UX that could guide first-time visitors — many encountering Ayurveda and Varma therapy for the first time — through unfamiliar treatment information calmly and clearly, in a design language that would hold up across four languages and a hotel-based booking flow.

A comprehensive range of services offered by Teknoppy and their outcomes

01

A calm, trust-building visual design system

directly answers Problem 1 & 3

Wellness-appropriate typography, imagery, and a restrained color palette guide visitors through unfamiliar treatment content step by step rather than overwhelming them, reinforcing the retreat's credibility before a visitor ever reads a word.

02

A design system built to flex across four languages

UI components, buttons, and labels were designed with enough flexibility to hold their layout across Spanish, German, French, and Italian, where text length varies significantly from the English source.

03

Ten treatments organized under one visual structure

Common Ayurveda and specialized Varma Chikitsa programs are laid out under a consistent "Your Retreat" page pattern, so an unfamiliar therapy system feels navigable rather than dense.

04

A guided, low-friction booking flow

The appointment form's fields (room type, arrival/departure, guests, treatment program) are sequenced and styled to feel like a simple step, matching the retreat's hotel-based delivery model rather than a generic enquiry form.

Approach: Discovery, wireframing, and visual design decisions specific to this project — timeline and key design choices — should be pulled from the project intake and added here once confirmed.

Have Questions?

FAQ

What was the main UI/UX challenge for Varma Ayurveda?

Designing an interface calm and clear enough to guide a European audience through an unfamiliar healing practice, while holding up visually across four languages.

Is the design system built for multilingual content?

Yes — UI components were designed with flexibility for Spanish, German, French, and Italian text, which run longer than the English source.

Did the project affect Varma Ayurveda's existing rankings?

This UI/UX work was scoped separately from the site's core content and development work, so it doesn't compete with the WordPress development case study or the site's treatment pages for the same search terms.

Is this the same project as Varma Ayurveda's WordPress development case study?

No — this case study covers UI/UX design work specifically. The WordPress development case study for this client covers the full site build.
